About L.I.F.T

Founded and led by Remi FiGart, Miss Greater Charlottesville’s outstanding teen, L.I.F.T. is a non-profit movement that helps physically challenged children experience the freedom of dance.  It dispels the misconception that children with disabilities are limited as it empowers children to experience increased confidence, poise and friendship. 

L.I.F.T.  got its start while Remi worked as a student teacher in her local dance studio’s Angel program. A program that provides weekly dance classes for physically challenged children. From this beginning, Remi was inspired to begin raising funds to help dance studios across the Commonwealth of Virginia start similar dance classes.  This is L.I.F.T.’s passion and mission to this day.
